In a tech event in Paris on Tuesday, June 9, Google showed off a new Google Now feature called ‘Local Aware Search’ which will allow users to search and learn about things without necessarily naming them.
During the event, Google demonstrated the example of a user standing beside a lake and asking Google things about it without even naming it. For instance, what’s its name, how big is this lake, etc. You can better see it in this clip shared by Danny Sullivan (Founding Editor, Search Engine Land) on his Twitter account.

Another cool thing is that this feature isn’t limited to location based questions, but also answers contextual questions. For instance, search a celebrity then ask Google anything about him without actually naming him. Watch this clip to check out this feature.

The official announcement for the launch of Location Aware Search hasn’t been made yet, however, many users in different locations have been claiming that it is working on their devices. Let’s wait and hope that we will soon hear the official announcement of the feature.
